As a musician, Duncan LeMay has always loved the varying shades of emotions and feeling that music has the potential of expressing. As a jazz pianist, he has discovered the freedom to express these possibilities through his composition, improvisation, and arranging. Duncan has worked on projects that encompass not only jazz, but also the genres of Funk, Neo-Soul, Salsa, and Singer-Songwriter. Some of the most notable projects include We Three Swing, The Blue Ridge Big Band, The Remnants, Joe Galvin’s Danzon Ensemble, the IU John Raymond Big Band, Top Shelf, and the Stardusters Big Band. In addition to these projects, Duncan writes, arranges, and records for his own projects as a leader.

As an arranger, Duncan has written for small jazz ensemble, orchestra, and big band. His large ensemble arrangements have been played by groups such as the IU Brent Wallarab jazz ensemble, Blue Ridge Big Band, Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra, and the William Paterson Jazz Orchestra. His small jazz combo arrangements have shaped the unique sound of the jazz group We Three Swing and the repertoire of vocalists Cara Morgan & Kassidy Blount.
